Federal Agriculture Minister, Lawrence MacAulay
Tell Agriculture Minister MacAulay to release overdue regulations to help protect animals in transport.
Humane regulations are long overdue
Animals in transport spend hours, or even days on end, crammed into crowed transport trucks, without access to food, water, or rest, and without protection from freezing winter temperatures or sweltering summer heat.
Canadian standards for transporting animals are amongst the worst in the developed world—so bad that millions of animals succumb to the stresses of their journey, arriving dead at federally inspected slaughter facilities each year.
Desperately needed updates to Canadian laws have been delayed by successive Agriculture Ministers. New Minister Lawrence MacAulay has the opportunity to stop the suffering of hundreds of millions of animals every year. He must act upon this chance to do the right thing.
