Take the pledge:
I pledge to stand with HSI to help street dogs across the world. I will spread awareness of their work to vaccinate stray dogs and bring attention to the importance of treating this vulnerable population with compassion.
What's the problem?
There are over 200 million stray dogs worldwide - most are unsterilized, competing for food, at risk of starvation and dehydration, and suffering from diseases and injuries. An unvaccinated dog is at risk for rabies, a very real and deadly disease.
A rabies scare or biting incident threatens the well-being of people living in these communities alongside them, causing the dogs to often be targets of mass killings (culls) and extreme cruelty in response.
What's the solution?
The only way to safely reduce the population is by ensuring a healthy population of sterilized and vaccinated dogs, who will prevent new dogs from coming into the territory. Mass vaccinating street dogs helps eradicate rabies and quickly addresses the human fears about dog bites that too often lead to deadly dog culls.
How can I help?
Please sign the pledge to be a part of the street team to spread the word about protecting stray dogs! Help us prove to the world that culling does not solve the problem, and that there are sustainable, effective, non-lethal solutions to overpopulation that are clearly better for both animals and humans.
Pledge to help street dogs around the world as part of HSI's #streetteam.
Thank you so much for your gift!
