Phase-out the captivity of elephants and protect wildlife from roadside zoos in Canada
Did you know there are up to 4,000 privately owned lions and tigers in captivity across Canada? Across Canada, there are hundreds of thousands of captive wild animals suffering under horrible conditions. Reports of inhumane treatment, neglect and lack of protections for these animals are frequent and disturbing.
The Jane Goodall Act (Bill S-241) will phase out captivity of elephants and ban the new captivity—and use in entertainment—of over 800 species, including great apes, big cats, bears and wolves at roadside zoos. It would also create much-needed federal protections for existing wildlife in captivity.
Ask decision-makers to support the Jane Goodall Act (Bill S-241) and protect wildlife today.
