End Canada’s role in the cruel elephant ivory trade
Every year, at least 20,000 African elephants are poisoned, shot or beaten to death for their ivory. Their tusks are hacked off and sold for profit, often through international crime syndicates. Hundreds of rhinoceroses are cruelly poached as well. The African elephant population has declined by 96% in the last century and multiple species of rhinoceros are critically endangered. If urgent measures are not taken, elephants in the wild may become extinct within a couple of decades.
In the recent Minister of Environment and Climate Change Mandate Letter, the government committed to ending elephant ivory and rhinoceros horn trade in Canada. Let’s get this done for elephants and rhinos—before it’s too late. Send Minister Guilbeault a letter today to express your support for an end to elephant ivory and rhino horn trade in Canada.
