Protect dogs in South Korea
Now is a vital time for dogs in South Korea. A bill was recently introduced, called the Special Act to End the Dog Meat Industry. They need your support now more than ever.
South Korea is the only country in the world known to intensively breed dogs for human consumption. Thousands of dog meat farms across the country house an estimated one million dogs who are confined in small, barren cages, exposed to harsh conditions—freezing cold winters and sweltering hot and humid summers. They live in states of perpetual fear, boredom, hunger and disease. For those who survive, their fate is a brutal death on the farm or at a slaughterhouse.
Public opinion is turning in South Korea and across the globe. Our 2022 commissioned opinion poll shows that 56% of the population is in support of a ban on the dog meat industry. Dogs are friends not food and they deserve compassion and protection from cruelty. We’re committed to ending the dog meat industry by exposing the cruelty, and rescuing those we can, raising vital public and political awareness, and increasing support for a phase out of the industry.
