Release the fur evidence results!
Almost three years ago, the UK government asked for our views on the fur trade to help it decide next steps regarding a ban on fur imports and sales. Some 30,000 people responded, the vast majority agreeing it is wrong to kill animals for their fur. Yet, despite many requests, the Environment Secretary is still withholding the results.
Fur is cruel and unnecessary. Millions of animals suffer every year—intensively farmed in small wire cages or caught in brutal metal traps—for a product no-one needs. Each year, the UK imports millions of pounds worth of real fur from farms overseas, a process so cruel such farming has been banned here for more than twenty years.
Please, write to your MP today to ask them to raise this important animal welfare issue with the Environment Secretary on your behalf. We urgently want to see a ban on fur imports and sales—the next step is the release of the evidence—please help us get it released ahead of the upcoming general election.
