The killing of Cecil the lion in 2015 exposed the blood sport of trophy hunting to the world. Wealthy trophy hunters travel far and wide to kill the rarest and most iconic animals such as elephants, leopards, giraffes or lions solely to obtain “trophies”—heads, hides or pelts, and even whole animals—to stuff, skin and hang on a wall. Trophy hunting is extremely cruel and exacerbates the decline of many species. It must end.
