Ask the BC government to end factory fur farming!
Every year, tens of thousands of animals are confined in tiny cages on factory fur farms in British Columbia, living in misery. The animals are then killed by cruel methods such as anal electrocution and gassing with carbon monoxide, all to produce fur for the fashion industry.
Beyond the cruelty, fur farms damage the environment and are a breeding ground for viral diseases like COVID-19 and other potential pandemics. So far, over 400 COVID-19 outbreaks have occurred on fur farms globally, including three in BC. In some countries, mutated forms of COVID-19 have been developed in mink farms and then spread to humans.
It is unconscionable to allow a broadly opposed, economically unviable industry that poses a clear threat to animal welfare and human health to continue.
