Support legislation to advance science without suffering in South Korea

In 2020, more than 4 million monkeys, dogs, pigs, birds, rabbits, rodents and other animals died in South Korean laboratories.

In addition to causing large-scale animal suffering, this outdated practice fails to deliver medical progress. Over 90% of drugs that pass animal tests go on to fail in human clinical trials. There are many advanced non-animal methods that are more reliable and better at predicting effects on people.

The promotion of South Korea's Alternatives to Animal Methods Act is a law developed by lawmakers, scientists and HSI to shift research funding away from animal experiments and require regulations to stay up-to-date with the latest non-animal approaches.
